Steeped with history and home to an array of stunning castles, stately houses and parks, gardens, museums and galleries you are spoilt for choice in York. Aldborough Roman Site in Aldborough was the capital of the Romanised Brigantes, the largest tribe in Britain. The museum has an exellecetion collection of Roman finds offering a hands on experience for adults and children alike.
Helmsley Castle is an imposing sight, surrounded by banks and ditches the castle towers over the market town of Helmsley and is steeped in history. Helmsley Castle has recently undergone a thorough makeover by English Heritage, making it more accessible to a wide range of visitors and is a superb place to visit during your time in York.
If you fancy taking in a movie then City Screen is widely regarded as one of one of the finest quality cinemas in Europe. If its something a little different you are after then why not take a ride on the Yorkshire Wheel were which is 54 metres high and offers spectacular panoramic views of York and the surrounding countryside.
